Safety Checklist for Phoenix Rising fire performance artists
Fueling Station
- One person always in attendance while fueling station is in operation.
- Station will be fully out of public view and will be accessible
only to approved performers.
- Fuel will only be exposed to open air during equipment dipping
(five minutes).
- Fuel will be kept in a sealed metal gas can.
Stage or designated area
- Stage will be subject to approval by all parties involved prior
to performance on day of event.
- If there is a canopy it must be flame resistant or completely
out of reach of flames.
- Floor will be clear of obstacles during performance.
- There will be tape on the floor to mark performance boundaries
if necessary.
Crowd Control and Safety Technicians
- There will be one fire safety technician, equipped with a wet
towel, per fire performer on stage.
- There will be two or three people on crowd control to keep the
crowd 15 feet back from the stage.
- There will be someone equipped with a fire extinguisher on stage
throughout the performance.
- All safety technicians will be well versed in safety technique
and will attend a full rehearsal of the performance.
- The integrity of all equipment will be checked by Phoenix Rising
prior to the performance.
- All fuel-soaked equipment will be kept in plastic bags between
soaking and lighting.
Performers
- All costuming will be fire resistant and tested.
- Only highly experienced fire dancers will be performing.
This checklist is open to sensible additions and changes made
by Event Management and any other involved parties. |
